The vineyards of the Palatinate, protected from cold
westerly winds by the Haardt Mountains, are located
on the gentle slopes bordering the Rhine valley. The
almost Mediterranean climate and a certain southern
flair characterize the landscape and the character of
the happy people who live here.

The Romans already recognized these advantageous
conditions when they planted the first vines in this area.
They called the Palatinate “God’s own wine cellar.”

This beautiful country, where chestnuts and even figs,
lemons and kiwi fruit ripen, is also the home of the
Meßmer wine estate.
